Card maker PSA acquired by Nevada company

ROMEOVILLE - PSA, a closed loop card manufacturer and provider of holistic card marketing solutions, has been acquired by Nevada-based Plasticard Locktech International, the world's largest hotel keycard and gift and loyalty card manufacturer,

Terms of the acquisition was not announced.

With the addition of PSA operations in Romeoville and St. Louis, PLI's total workforce nationwide will increase from 700 to more than 1,000 employees. The acquisition doubles the PLI facilities to four and grows the production space from 300,000 to 450,000 square feet across the country.

"The acquisition of PSA marks another milestone moment in PLI's 29-year history," said PLI President & CEO Peter Krauss. "It not only adds capacity, capability, and another valuable distribution point for our customers, but we are also gaining a talented and motivated team in both locations that are aligned with the Customer First Culture at PLI."

PLI said the acquisition will expand its capacity from the production of 1.1 billion cards a year to 1.6 billion cards, produced from a variety of materials including a newly-launched innovative chalk product.

PLI has an exclusive agreement to bring the PLI-Nu eCard to the market. The new eCard is made from sustainable, renewable and recyclable material, and will be available in two options - 85 percent PVC-free and 100 percent PVC-free.

The company also announced it will grow its workforce by an additional 25 percent in its North Las Vegas facility by adding a third shift to its operations and up to 75 new employees, 50 of those to be hired immediately.
