Holcomb's campaign getting big boost from national GOP group

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - New state reports show Republican Eric Holcomb remains heavily dependent on national support in the Indiana gubernatorial campaign against Democrat John Gregg.

Disclosure reports filed Tuesday show that $5.1 million from the Republican Governors Association represented nearly half of the $11 million Holcomb had raised through Oct. 24. The GOP governors group has since given him another $1.5 million boost heading into next week's election.

That national support has been vital to Holcomb since replacing Gov. Mike Pence as the GOP nominee in July.

Gregg's campaign has been less reliant on national support, although the Democratic Governors Association accounted for $1.8 million of his $16.5 million raised through Oct. 24. Labor unions have also contributed heavily to Gregg - and the Democratic governors group gave him $600,000 more last week.
