North Chicago teen faces armed robbery charges

An 18-year-old gang member facing felony charges stemming from an armed robbery in North Chicago is being held in Lake County jail on $750,000 bail, authorities said.

Delwin L. Hodge, of North Chicago, is charged with three counts of armed robbery with a firearm and three counts of aggravated robbery. Authorities had issued a warrant for his arrest on the charges related to the armed robbery in August.

Hodge also had an active failure to appear arrest warrant for a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance, the Lake County Sheriff's office said Wednesday.

Hodge was taken into custody during a traffic stop in Third Lake Tuesday by members of the sheriff's office warrants team and the U.S. Marshals Service Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Sheriff's office police had begun conducting surveillance at a home in Round Lake Beach, where Hodge was believed to be living. He was seen Tuesday in the area driving a vehicle.

The sheriff's office warrants team and the regional task force conducted the traffic stop on Hodge's vehicle in Third Lake, where he was successfully taken into custody.
