Naval base commander to speak in Lake Forest
Great Lakes Naval Station Cmdr. James Hawkins will speak Wednesday, Nov. 9, at a luncheon at Gorton Community Center in Lake Forest. Hawkins, a Navy captain, is expected to provide insight into the history, workings and economic impact of the base. Co-sponsored by the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Chamber of Commerce, the buffet will cost $25 for members and $35 for nonmembers. The event will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the center at 400 E.
