Police: Disorderly fans cause damage after Penn State win

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - Authorities in central Pennsylvania say disorderly fans caused some damage following Penn State's upset victory over No. 2 Ohio State.

Following Saturday's 24-21 victory, police said a celebratory crowd of 5,000 to 10,000 people gathered in downtown State College, mostly college-age men and women.

Police said some in the crowd damaged street lights and signs and started small fires in the street. One vehicle was reported damaged and one person taken to a hospital after he was struck in the head with a bottle.

State police and other agencies aided city police in clearing the streets over the next several hours. Police are asking anyone who took photos or video capturing illegal activity to send the images to investigators.
