Fear for our virtues
Donald Trump is everything I teach my children NOT to be.
He is rude and condescending, he mocks and belittles others, and he refuses to educate himself on important policy issues, preferring to say the first thing that pops into his head.
He is selfish and lacks empathy for others -- immigrants, the disabled and veterans struggling with PTSD, to name only a few.
He has actively encouraged hatred and anger at his campaign events and continually seeks to divide our country by singling out groups of people to conveniently blame for the complex issues facing our country and the world.
At a time when schools throughout the country have recognized that bullying is a threat to the health and well-being of our children, and have programs in place to help put an end to it, we now have a candidate with the behavior and temperament of a bully seeking to lead our nation and stand as a role model for our children.
I fear for the future of our country - for peace and prosperity, for the virtues of kindness and tolerance, for opportunity and freedom for all human beings, should he be elected.
