Don't repeat history

I ask you to consider a point of view that has nothing to do with any particular policy or any one candidate's past. I ask you to consider American voters and Americans who stay home. Clearly, many Americans feel let down. Government (indeed our very way of life), to many, is dysfunctional. So, many Americans want drastic, drastic change. The question is, what do we give these Americans? Many Italians and Germans felt the same in the 1920s and 1930s. At a time of deep frustration, many looked to "strong men" to return them to greatness. And a third party protest vote is no answer: Germany had one in 1932, America in 2000. It did not turn out well for Germany nor for Italy, or the world. One of the tasks of leadership is to understand rage but not to embody it. Remember history so we are not doomed to repeat it.
