Chicago police see shooting, exchange gunfire with suspects

CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago police say officers who witnessed a shooting that wounded a man exchanged gunfire with the suspects on the city's far South Side.
Police say officers responding to an unrelated call early Thursday in the West Pullman neighborhood heard gunshots and saw someone firing from inside a vehicle. Police say the officers announced their presence, those in the vehicle fired at them and an officer returned fire.
No injuries were reported in the gunfire between police and the suspects, who fled in the vehicle and crashed several miles away. Police took two people into custody and a third was being sought. A young man wounded in the original shooting was taken to a hospital for treatment.
