Sixth-grade students take on staff during annual Fox homecoming football game

The excitement was palpable at Fox School the afternoon of October 14 as everyone headed outside to watch the sixth-grade students take on the staff in the annual homecoming football game.

"The kids look forward to being sixth-graders and having the opportunity to play in the game," Principal Colette Bell said of the school's longtime tradition.

P.E. teacher Andy Bending preps the sixth-graders for the homecoming game each year, teaching the students plays and going over what each of the teams will do when it is their turn to take the field.

Kindergarten through fifth-grade classes watched the football game on a rotating basis on October 14; some waved signs supporting the teachers, while others were rooting for the sixth-graders.

"I love football games at my school!" one student exclaimed.

The football game, followed by a PTA-sponsored homecoming dance that evening, capped off a celebratory week of spirit days made even more meaningful by the fact that this year marks Fox's 50th anniversary.

"We have been celebrating that quite a bit," Bell said.
