Chicago-area man convicted of seeking to have sex with minor

ST. CHARLES, Ill. (AP) - A judge has convicted a 42-year-old suburban Chicago man of paying $150 in an attempt to have sex with someone he believed was a 15-year-old girl.

A statement from the Kane County state's attorney's office says a circuit judge on Tuesday convicted Eric F. Ziemba during a bench trial. The Oswego man now faces a minimum six-year prison term.

Prosecutors say Ziemba travelled to an Aurora hotel, met someone he believed was the girl's mother and paid the money. He was then arrested by waiting law enforcement.

Ziemba had been free on $30,000 bond. He was taken into custody after the guilty verdict was announced.

Ziemba was convicted of involuntary sexual servitude of a minor and other charges. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for Dec. 16.
