National FFA Organization to hold convention in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - About 64,000 visitors are expected in Indianapolis this week for the National FFA Organization convention.

The annual event for the group that promotes agricultural education will remain in Indianapolis until 2024 under a $4.5 million incentive deal state officials announced last year. The convention begins Wednesday and runs through Saturday.

The Indianapolis Star reports (http://indy.st/2egBkjI ) the conference is expected to sprawl across downtown and includes events at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Lucas Oil Stadium and the Indiana Convention Center. It also will include festivities at the Indiana State Fairgrounds and eight hotels.

The convention was held in Louisville, Kentucky last year. Indianapolis had previously hosted it from 2006 to 2012.
