More than 1 million downloads for Chicago transit app

CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago transit officials say a mobile fare app launched a year ago has been downloaded more than 1 million times.

The Chicago Transit Authority says riders have used the free Ventra transit app to buy more than $110 million in fares.

The smartphone app was developed by the CTA in partnership with Metra, the Chicago area's commuter rail system, and Pace, the suburban bus system.

Users can manage their transit accounts, get notifications and see real-time transit tracker information for CTA, Metra and Pace.
