Perhaps the most compelling argument Democrat Michelle Gale of Glendale Heights makes for the unseating of incumbent Bob Grogan of Downers Grove is that having a Republican monitor the finances of all the other DuPage office holders and their administrators is akin to having the fox guard the hen house. In fact, she all but calls for dissolution of the office and creating a non-elected, bipartisan post.
That might be an idea worth studying, but it's also one that would require extensive ferreting out.
In the meantime, there has not been a hint of scandal regarding Grogan's objectivity. We also commend him for making DuPage the first county in the state to put its checkbook online, and for vowing improvements that will make it more user-friendly.
We recommend Grogan for re-election.
