Hillary unpopular for telling the truth?

This year's presidential election is turning out like most of them. Bickering back and forth between political parties and pundits with poor us, the American voters, stuck in the middle of it all.

It does not help that the majority of the reporting continues to on such trivial issues as Hillary Clinton and her coughing fit or Donald Trump and his body mass index. The lack of genuine reporting on policy issues and fact-checking is leaving us all in the cold.

I won't hide that I plan to proudly vote for Hillary Clinton. I believe she is the most qualified candidate for our country's highest office and believe that, based on her experience and policy positions, will prove to be a great president. However, it bewilders me that her polling numbers compared to Donald Trump remain so close, especially with the type of temperment and rhetoric Trump continues to show us.

An answer widely given to help explain Hillary's low poll numbers is that she is simply not likeable and I began to ask myself why. There really isn't any firm evidence proving that she is anything but a smart, well-educated, and hard-working person who has dedicated her life to public service. The answer I believe lies with what I discovered on Politifact's website. They have posted a simple link to compare our candidates under "People" and what I saw was breathtaking. As reported by Politifact, Hillary simply tells the truth by a far larger margin than Donald. In fact, Hillary Clinton's statements regarded as "true" or "mostly" are approximately equal to Donald Trump's statements reported as "false" or "pants on fire." Unbelievable.

I can only surmise that many people don't like Hillary because she simply tells us the truth. And as we all know, the truth hurts.
