Illinois Rep. Rodney Davis withdraws support for Trump

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) - U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis is joining the ranks of Republican officials who have withdrawn their support for Donald Trump after the release of a recording in which Trump makes vulgar comments about women.

The (Decatur) Herald and Review (http://bit.ly/2dNLrhR ) reported Saturday that Davis has asked to be removed from the Trump's agriculture advisory committee.

Davis calls Trump's 2005 comments "abhorrent" and says he hopes that Trump will drop out of the presidential race so that Trump's running mate Mike Pence can take his place.

Republican leaders across the country have condemned Trump's comments and many have withdrawn their support for his candidacy. A defiant Trump has insisted that he won't abandon his White House bid.
