Veterans will be welcomed home on Sunday

A welcome-home ceremony for eight Korean War and nine Vietnam War veterans is set for 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, at North Chicago Veterans Memorial Park, on the 1800 block of Sheridan Road. Lake County Honor Flight is hosting the veterans as they return from a trip to Washington D.C. Local residents are encouraged to attend and make posters, bring American flags and dress in red, white and blue. Visitors should bring lawn chairs and dress appropriately, as the ceremony will be held outdoors, rain or shine. Parking is available at the memorial site, and additional parking as indicated by signage along Sheridan Road. North Chicago Mayor Leon Rockingham Jr., and several other local politicians will speak.
