Bartlett Reads is back and encourages community engagement

Starting on Oct. 1, the Bartlett Library began its celebration of Bartlett Reads.

Bartlett Reads is a community-reads event that encourages everyone to read and discuss the same book. This year, the book that is being focused on at the Bartlett Library is "The Namesake" by Jhumpa Lahiri.

Patrons are able to pick up a free copy of "The Namesake" by visiting the Adult Services Desk. One copy will go to each person while supplies last.

There are a couple of book discussions with the book: Thursday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. & Thursday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m.

There are also fun programs in October that relate to the themes of "The Namesake." Keep your eyes out for these dates and programs:

Henna Tattoo Workshop

Saturday, October 15, 2 p.m.: Interested in chess or simply love the game? Come learn and play in a friendly, welcoming environment. All boards and pieces will be supplied. Volunteers will be on hand to answer questions and provide instruction. Registration required.

The Spices of India

Tuesday, October 18, 7 p.m.: Interested in chess or simply love the game? Come learn and play in a friendly, welcoming environment. All boards and pieces will be supplied. Volunteers will be on hand to answer questions and provide instruction. Registration required.
