Boys soccer: Streamwood upsets St. Charles North

Streamwood's boys soccer team put a little wrinkle in the Upstate Eight River race with a 2-1 win over first place St. Charles North (10-3-3, 3-1-1) Tuesday.

Second half goal scorers Alex Chavez and Aldo Lazaro (PK) allowed Streamwood (11-5-3, 3-1-2) to jump on North for a 2-goal lead.

"The guys were definitely prepared and ready and North is having a great season," Sabres coach Matt Polovin said. "With a team like that you can't play good soccer, you have to play great soccer and I though majority of the game they did."

Sabres keeper Daniel Dominguez finished with 5 saves.

Jacobs 4, Prairie Ridge 0: Noah Melick was on a roll as he scored every goal for the Golden Eagles (12-3-4) in a commanding Fox Valley Conference win over the Wolves. The win put Jacobs in the driver's seat at 6-0 in the conference, with games against McHenry and Dundee-Crown looming. Colin Walsh delivered a hat trick of assists and Ryan Blanchard added the other. Keeper Ethan Pickering garnered 5 saves.

Huntley 2, McHenry 1 (OT): The Red Raiders (12-4-1, 4-1) earned themselves a huge overtime win thanks to Aaron Ruffner's goal in the 97th minute on an assist from Juan Collazo. Ruffner also added an assist on Raul Valledares' goal in the second half to tie the game in the 44th minute. Goalie Michael Parks made 5 saves.

Burlington Central 1, Woodstock North 0: Jack Schramme's 77th minute goal propelled the Rockets (6-6-5, 4-2-3) to a Kishwaukee River win. Ryan Parsons had 7 saves in goal for a clean sheet.

CL South 4, Hampshire 3: Andrew Grabowski's 1 goal, 3 assist night helped the Gators (11-6-1, 3-2) grab a FVC win over the Whip-Purs. Ryan Coughlin, Tommy Ciezadlo and Nikolas Getzinger also scored goals. The Whips (10-6-2, 2-4) couldn't get a senior night win despite Jose Cruz's 1 goal, 1 assist outing. Jack Fairwood and Nico Barrientos also scored goals for Hampshire.

Harvest Christian 3, Westminster Christian 1: In Northeastern Athletic action, the Lions improved to 12-2-1 as Cesar Velazquez, Antonio Nevarez and Rapheal DeSouza all booted goals. Zach Floyd recorded 1 assist and goalie Matt Baron notched 7 saves in net.

CL Central 2, Dundee-Crown 0: After a big win over McHenry last Thursday, the Chargers (10-8, 5-2) saw their FVC hopes dashed a bit with a loss to the Tigers. Luis Cruz accounted for 1 save.

West Chicago 4, Bartlett 3: Hernan Garcia added 1 goal and 1 assist in a UEC Valley loss for the Hawks (1-13-3, 1-4). Patrick Cox and Oscar Soto added goals while Julio Diaz had 2 assists.
