Will you vote for your current legislative leader? What is your position on term limits in general and specifically for legislative leaders? Do you support the ongoing drive for a constitutional amendment on redistricting? What will you do to promote implementation of any changes you recommend?A change in leadership will be the first thing that would make the legislature more effective. New ideas, new ways of doing things, new agreements - positive change will stimulate a healthier, more effective legislature. I will vote for Mr. Durbin. I believe that term limits for leadership are necessary; that term limits for legislators are imposed by the people - by their vote. I will vote for different leadership and work toward term limits for leadership.Would you vote for an increase in state income taxes or sales taxes? Would you vote for new taxes, such as on services? What is your position on a graduated income tax?I may very well have to vote on increasing tazes; it is not what I would want to do, but there must be a way we can get out of this financial crisis we are in. We need a financially sound budget that does not overspend - that way, the increase in tax may be low and not cause much impact to the residents. I would prefer a graduated income tax over a flat tax. Some services may be taxed. What changes, if any, do you support in education and education funding in Illinois? Please be specific. The education funding formula was written years ago and perhaps does not serve the communities we have today as well as projected. I think it needs to be studied, but with an end date for proposals. In my area, the dollars per student spent are less than in other areas of the state. I think they should have more funding since we have the second larges school district in IL.On Illinois' budget, specifically, where do you believe cuts need to be made?K-12 education, Human Services, Health Care, and Pensions make up the largest portion of the budget. The Pension system does need an overhaul to bring it in line with the private sector. At this time, I think that every line item should be analyzed and cut. What approach do you support toward fixing the public pension systems?I would like to see a tiered system for the Pensions in Illinois. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?District MappingWho may attend State Universities and pay in-state TuitionElection Code changes that would have all parties submit same number of petitions signatures.I would consider a voucher system for education (much called for in my district). Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Tom Morrison Representative from Barrington - he holds fast to his beliefs and serves the people as he said he would. What is the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Treat others with respect. Do not cross Dad.If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?I've had a very full life thus far; I would not want to have any do-overs: I would just do more! What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Science and now I love to cook.If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Don't keep doing the same thing over expecting different results.
