Are you confident sufficient steps have been taken to avoid a repeat in November? What role, if any, should the county board have in such matters?It is the County Board's duty to hold the County Clerk's office accountable for its part in our elections. We need to be more prepared for our November election and all subsequent elections. The County Board must do its best to make sure that appropriate poll workers are hired and that there is effective oversight at the polls and that votes are properly and accurately counted.Why are you running for this office, whether for re-election or election for the first time? Is there a particular issue that motivates you? If so, what?I'm running for office to listen to my constituents and to make the best and most informed decisions I can make to represent their interests and the interests of McHenry County at large. I want to make sure that our tax dollars are being fairly spent, that our roads are safe, our citizens cared for and our elected officials held accountable for the choices they make, especially where our hard earned tax dollars are concerned.Describe your position regarding the balance between county spending and revenues as it exists today, then describe the chief threats you see looming in the future and how the county should deal with them.The job of County Board members is in part to make sure that county tax dollars are appropriately spent. Current board members have failed to do that. I feel that the county board has wasted hard earned taxpayer dollars on things like the $25,000 it used for its legal defense fund for the suit brought against some of its members for violating the open meetings act. Future threats to county residents are potential loss of our high credit rating, crumbling infrastructure and negative effects from the refusal to accept allocated grant money.How do you rate the county government on transparency and the public's access to records? If you consider it adequate, please explain why. If you think improvements are needed, please describe them and why they are important.The County Board needs to work toward being much more transparent when it comes to where our taxpayers' money is going and why. Accountability to the taxpayers of McHenry County is paramount.Please list any elected office you've ever run for and what the result of that election was. Have you ever been appointed to fill an unexpired term?N/AWhat other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?Lessening the burden on our hardworking taxpayers, making sure that we consider the welfare of the growing number of our county's senior citizens, making sure our roads and intersections are safe, that our county stays green, healthy and beautiful and that it continues to be a safe, desirable, well rated place to live and work.Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Sen.
