Meet local writers at library's Indie Author Day

Love books? No matter your genre of choice, there will likely be enticements for you at the Indie Author Day celebration taking place from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, in the Rasmussen Room of the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Road.

Come to meet and greet the authors, ask them questions and peruse their works. Each author will have books for sale and will be happy to sign them for you.

"It's our hope that attendees at Indie Author Day will get to know our community's wonderful local authors," said Fiction Librarian Emily Vinci, coordinator of the event. "For aspiring authors, this event will provide insight and inspiration toward following their own publishing goals."

Participating authors, along with some of their titles, include: Amy Alessio, Alana O'Neill Mystery series; Sandra Ulbrich Almazan, The Season Avatars series; Rose Anderson/Madeline Archer, "The Leonardo Chronicles"; T.D. Arkenberg, "None Shall Sleep"; Drew Elyse, The Disciples' Daughters series; Randall Allen Dunn, "The Red Rider"; Margie Mack, "My Ship has Sails"; Sambath Meas, "The Governor's Daughter"; Pamela S. Meyers, "Thyme for Love"; Hugo Negron, Forging of a Knight series; Michael Pickard, "Invasive Species"; Georgann Prochaska, "The Case of the Hound Who Didn't Stay"; Nancy Sack, "Puppies and Poems."

If you would like to hear from indie authors, agents and other industry leaders from around the country, stick around for an hourlong digital gathering live-streamed at 1 p.m. in the Rasmussen Room. Participants will discuss the writing process, their books, the publishing industry, and answer pre-submitted questions.

Another way to meet authors is also coming up at the Schaumburg Library. Sisters in Crime will hold writing workshops and sign their books from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12. Participants may choose any number of workshops to attend. More information on the Sisters in Crime Workshops will be forthcoming as the date draws nearer.

Indie Author Day and the Sisters in Crime Workshops are just two of many opportunities for book lovers to fuel their passion at the library. Book discussion groups are also a great way to enjoy your favorite genres and share opinions and insights with others.

Readers can choose from Murder by the Book, Young(ish) Adult Book Club, Who Filmed this Book, Beyond the Book, and Second Floor Reads (nonfiction). More information is available in the library's program guide and online at www.SchaumburgLibrary.org.

Love books? Whether you prefer reading, writing or both, you're sure to find events, programs, workshops, and plenty of books at the Schaumburg Township District Library.
