Boys cross country: Grayslake Central second in Harland

Jack Aho and Matt Aho ran to a 1-2 finish, and Grayslake Central's boys cross country team settled for second place in the Antioch-hosted Pat Harland invite at Fox River Park on Saturday.

Jack Aho covered the 3-mile layout in a winning time of 15:16.10, while his brother Matt took second in 15:53.90. They were the only runners to break 16 minutes.

Crystal Lake Central won the meet with 45 points, just six fewer than Grayslake Central (51). Richmond-Burton (91), Warren (125) and Vernon Hills (147) rounded out the top five. Antioch (155) was sixth in the 12-team field.

Grayslake North's Liam O'Connell (16:27.60) and Grayslake Central's Eli Minsky (16:28.04) placed sixth and seventh, respectively. Warren's Andrew Miller (16:32.06) and Antioch's Charlie Smith (16:37.54) were ninth and 10th, respectively.

The top 20 also included Vernon Hills' Shane Williamson (13th, 16:59.98), Warren's Julian Ruiz (14th, 17:05.91) and Grayslake Central's Ben Steinbeck (16th, 17:11.25).
