Correction: Illinois Shootings-Vigil story

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) - In a story Sept. 27 about a vigil at the University of Illinois for several shooting victims, The Associated Press misspelled the name of a man who was killed. He was George Korchev, not George Korchef.

A corrected version of the story is below:

Vigil held for victims of U of I shootings that left 1 dead

Hundreds of people gathered by candlelight on the campus of the University of Illinois in Champaign to remember victims of a shooting that left one dead

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) - Hundreds of people gathered by candlelight on the campus of the University of Illinois in Champaign to remember victims of a shooting that left one dead.

One of those speaking during the vigil Tuesday evening was Erik Lasaine, a student who was shot in the back during Sunday morning's shootings. Others attending the vigil noted the fear that spread across the campus.

Twenty-two-year-old George Korchev of Mundelein was in town visiting Lasaine when he was fatally shot as they walked down the street.

WGN-TV reports Korchev was a recent nursing graduate who would have started a new job Monday.

Police say two others were wounded during the shooting outside a party were a dispute broke out. None of the four victims was part of the disagreement or attended the party.
