Group plans downtown Muncie mural to promote inclusiveness

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) - A group planning to bring a mural to downtown Muncie is hoping it will be painted next spring.

The Star Press reports (http://tspne.ws/2dAPPBn ) a group known as the We're Trying Collective has raised nearly $2,300 of its goal of $10,000. The plan is to paint a mural alongside the wall of the Mark III Taproom. The art would be an effort to bring color and unity to the Muncie community.

Ball State University employee Faith Kellermeyer said she was inspired to promote unity in Muncie after the shooting at the Orlando Pulse Nightclub. She says the idea behind the mural is to create something public for Muncie that would demonstrate inclusiveness, tolerance and show that it's a community where people are free to be themselves.
