Glen Ellyn Library schedules community conversations

Glen Ellyn Public Library officials are seeking to better understand residents' aspirations and concerns for the community and what they believe would strengthen it.

To gain that input, a series of community conversations has been scheduled at the library, 500 Duane St., Glen Ellyn. The conversation dates are:

• 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29

• 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1

• 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Oct. 6

"Our 2010 focus groups provided great feedback about what the community wanted to see at the library," Director Dawn Bussey said. "Instead of asking what the community would like to see at the library, this time we're asking the community much broader questions. We're hoping through these conversations to better understand the needs of the community and foster greater community partnerships."

Conversation topics come from participants (ages 13 and older) and may cover a wide range of ideas and views. What library staff learn from these conversations will be used to help make the library's work in the community more effective.

"We cannot promise the conversations will lead to a new program or policy," Bussey said. "We will share what we learned, however, and how we'll use what we hear."

To make sure your voice is heard, reserve your spot by visiting gepl.org/events/community-conversations or by calling (630) 469-0879.
