Girls swimming and diving: Invite victories for Barrington, Hersey

Barrington's girls swimming and diving team proved to be the class of the Lake County Invitational hosted by Lake Forest on Saturday.

The Fillies, who remain perfect in both invitationals and duals to start the season, finished with 327 points to top runner-up Stevenson (260) and third-place Libertyville (183).

Junior Maggie Emary and sophomore Bridget O'Leary did much of the damage for Barrington by winning twice individually.

Emary was tops in the 200-yard IM (2:09.87) and 500 free (5:04.60). O'Leary won the 200 free (1:54.51) and continued to drop time with a victory in the 100 free (53.13).

Tea Ragnini, Emary, O'Leary and Penrod wrapped up the meet with a victory in the 400 free relay in 3:35.84.

Senior Rachel Song came up with a pair of victories for Stevenson. She won the 100 fly in 58.00, edging out teammate Jessica Lenhart, and Song won the 100 back in 59.06.

Vernon Hills sophomore Drew Petereit had the top finish in the 50 freestyle (25.04), and Libertyville's Claire Neuberger won diving with an 11-effort score of 383.70.

Hersey wins Stampede: Olivia Kusio broke the pool record with a winning time of 1:08.04 in the 100-yard breaststroke as Hersey took top team honors in the invitational hosted by Buffalo Grove.

Kusio was a winner in all four races for the Huskies, taking the 200 IM in 2:15.73 along with legs on two winning relays. She joined Mili Meredith, Jenny Lutz and Claire Lutz on the medley (1:53.22), then the Lutz sisters and Claire Fink on the 200 free relay (1:42.75).
