Aurora man charged with 2013 arson of two cars

A 21-year-old man has been charged with lighting two cars on fire in March 2013 on Aurora's near east side.

Luis A. Camacho, of the 500 block of Gates Street, Aurora, is serving a 60-day jail sentence for driving while his license was revoked and faces up to seven years prison on the new arson charges that recently were returned by a Kane County grand jury, according to court records.

Camacho is accused of setting fire to a 1994 Toyota Corolla on April 4, 2013, and trying to light a 1991 Oldsmobile on fire. Both cars were on the 400 block of Linden Avenue, according to court records.

Aurora police could not immediately be reached for comment.

Camacho, records show, is being held at the Kane County jail while he serves a sentence for driving while his license was revoked. He received two years of probation, served 22 days in jail and was ordered to perform 30 hours of public service after pleading guilty to possession of a controlled substance stemming from an July 2015 arrest in Aurora, records show.

One condition of his probation was no new arrests.

Camacho's next court date is Oct. 13.
