Boys soccer: St. Charles East, Dundee-Crown notch wins
St. Charles East 7, Streamwood 1: The Saints (11-1-1, 3-1) continued their dominance this season, grabbing their sixth-straight win at Millennium Field. Truitt Battin led East with 2 goals, while Mitchell Lucatorto, Davis Frey, Justin Stepien, Aldo Bautista and Nicholas Cayton registered goals. Kevin Cook had 1 assist. The Sabres (8-4-2, 1-1-1) received a goal from Alex Chavez and an assist from Aldo Lazaro.
Dundee-Crown 2, Cary-Grove 1 (OT): Ivan Aviles' second overtime goal lifted the Chargers (8-7-0, 3-1) to a Fox Valley Conference win over the Trojans (1-7, 0-4). Jelani Washington also scored for D-C while Jeremy Jareckyj tallied 1 assist. Charger keeper Luis Cruz managed 5 saves against C-G, who saw Patrick Kingdon tally their only goa. Sam Carhart added the assist and goalie Teddy Price corralled 13 saves.
St. Edward 7, IC Catholic 1: AJ Franklin secured a hat trick in this Metro Suburban win. Will Gaston provided 2 goals while Josh Johansen (1 assist) and Uriel Carachure each added 1. Zach Olenek dished 3 assists and while Emilio Martinez and Michael Lopez delivered 1 each. Evan Sajtar had 3 saves in net for the Green Wave (8-3, 3-0).
Hampshire 4, CL Central 2: The tandem of Doug Steuhler and Jose Cruz were too much for the Tigers in FVC action. Both players poured in 2 goals while Cruz added an assist and Parker Bishop and Jesus Rivera also had 1 assist for Hampshire (9-4-1, 2-2). Whip-Purs' keeper Andy Krajecki made 5 saves.
CL South 2, Prairie Ridge 1: Brad Grabowski scored via a brotherly connection - his older brother Andrew - to give the Gators (9-3-1, 1-1) a late second half win over the Wolves in FVC action. Alex Canfield also scored for South while Nikolas Getzinger had 1 assist. Goalie Brandon Gorka provided 3 saves in net.
Kaneland 4, Rochelle 2: John McCaffery, Brian Bartholomew, Zach Smith and Dillon Bock all scored goals for the Knights (4-7-1) in this NI Big 12 crossover. Angel Escontrias dished 2 assists and Robby Nach added 1.
Harvest Christian 4, Schaumburg Christian 0: In nonconference action, Raphael DeSouza, Antonio Nevarez, Patrick D'Alessandro and Aaron Ptak all found the net in a win for the Lions (7-1). Cesar Velazquez recorded 3 assists and Westin White 1. Goalie Matthew Baron nailed down 4 saves in net for the shutout.
