Girls swimming: Buffalo Grove, Conant pick up MSL victories

Buffalo Grove stayed unbeaten in Mid-Suburban East girls swimming and diving on Thursday following a 104-81 victory over host Rolling Meadows.

The Bison won both freestyle relays and had double individual winners in Alexa Jedryka (200 free, 500 free) and Emily Schulstad (200 IM, 100 back).

Another key was diving, where Buffalo Grove had a victory from Patrycja Sobolak and also picked up points in third and fourth places.

Meadows' winners included Jenna Pors (100 fly), Teresa Perille (100 free) and Betsy Zanocco (100 breast), and Buffalo Grove's Samantha Swanson won the 50 free.

Conant d. Palatine: Lea Cejvan, Esther Song and Sarah Erne came up with a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 breaststroke to give the host Cougars a big end-of-meet swing in a 105-80 decision.

Kayla Wartman had a Conant win in the 100 back, and teammates Aly Wooley and Olivia Konieczny placed 1-2 in both the 50 and 100 freestyles.

Jane Smith (200 free, 500 free) and Ellis Nelson (200 IM, 100 fly) both won twice for Palatine, and the Pirates' Sydney Aikman had the top diving performance.

Prospect d. Wheeling: The visiting Knights were dominant, taking all the relays and getting the top individual performance in all events except for the 100 freestyle, won by Wheeling's Meghan Hergert.

Fremd d. Hoffman Estates: The host Vikings got victories from Rebecca Ballo (200 IM), Emma Bolger (200 free), Emily Kini (50 free), Lauren Streitmatter (100 fly), Sophia Kuehn (100 free) and Marie Grzybek (500 free) in a 99-72 decision.

Barrington d. Schaumburg: The visiting Saxons got victories from Hana Mollin in both the 100 fly (1:00.83) and 100 back (1:02.37), but Barrington's overall lineup was too much in a 112-68 Fillies victory.

Winners for Barrington included Mia Chen (200 IM), Emma Graves (200 free), Tea Ragnini (50 free), Nikki Barcroft (100 breast), Gracie Roper (500 free) and Lupita Vega (100 free).

Hersey d. Elk Grove: The host Huskies remained perfect against MSL East foes with a 152-34 victory over the Grens. Hersey had double individual winners in Claire Lutz (200 free, 100 breast) and Olivia Kusio (50 free, 100 free).
