Gurnee library election

Nominating petition packets for Warren-Newport Public Library trustees candidates are available starting Sept. 20 for the April 4, 2017, election. Open are three seats for six-year terms and one seat for a two-year term. Petitions are to be filed at the library Dec. 12-19. Library trustees meet monthly to establish policies, approve and monitor the library budget, keep abreast of library law and employ the executive director. The Warren-Newport Public Library District, founded in 1973, serves about 67,000 residents within a 55-square-mile area that covers all or most of Warren and Newport townships, including Gurnee, Wadsworth, Park City, Wildwood, Grandwood Park, Old Mill Creek and portions of Grayslake, Millburn, Lake Villa, Libertyville and Waukegan.
