District 200 hosting state of the district event Wednesday

Wheaton Warrenville Unit District 200 Superintendent Jeff Schuler will give his second annual State of Our Schools address next week, to provide residents with information about new teaching initiatives, the district's financial health and plans to improve aging facilities.

Schuler said the evening will give him and other district administrators a valuable opportunity to talk with residents face-to-face.

"It's essential for people to come out," he said. "I think the school district and the quality of education continues to be a valued asset to the community and (residents) need to be informed on how we are prudently investing their money in education."

Anyone is welcome to attend the event, which begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the auditorium of Hubble Middle School, 3S600 Herrick Road in Warrenville.

Schuler will lead the night with a presentation that will include videos of teachers showcasing new instruction taking place in District 200 classrooms. He will also discuss finances and how the district's master facility process is coming along.

Afterward, attendees will have a chance to ask district administrators questions in the lobby. People who cannot stay after the presentation can submit a written question that will be answered later by a district official.

Schuler said a "roadshow" version of the presentation will be repeated in the coming weeks for community groups that are interested in hearing it. Last year, he said, the district met with about 15 groups to share the presentation.
