Junior Olympic Medal for Arlington Heights Athlete

Priya Adiga (10), returned to the school year with a little more to brag about than the normal camping and other summer vacation outings. The Arlington Heights youngster spent the early part of the summer in serious training mode as she prepared for the USA Taekwondo Junior Olympics and her dedication was worth the effort.

The 10-year-old returned to Arlington Heights boasting a Bronze medal and puts her in the top tiers to the sport in the United State for her age and belt ranking. "More than 3600 athlete competed and only a very small percentage actually medaled," stated Head Master Shik Lee, Adige's instructor. "While very pleased, I'm not surprised; Priya always brings her A-game, so we knew she was going to do well."

Adiga is a student of the White Tiger Martial Arts Center in Wheeling and earned the right to compete in the Junior Olympics earlier this year when she placed in a top spot at the USA Taekwondo Illinois State Championship. USA Taekwondo is recognized by the United States Olympic Committee as the national governing body for the sport of Taekwondo in the United States.
