College of DuPage celebrating homecoming

College of DuPage will celebrates its third annual homecoming with a concert/pep rally and football game open to the community.

The COD Chaparrals take on the Ellsworth Panthers at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

Prior to the game, a concert/pep rally is held Friday, Sept. 30, at the Lakeside Pavilion with Chicago 6 Band, starring 1985 Bears Super Bowl champs Dan Hampton, Otis Wilson and Steve McMichael.

Before the 7 p.m. show, guests are invited to a meet and greet with the Bears greats and hear a presentation by Chaparral head Coach Matt Foster.

The event is free, with a $10 donation suggested per person. Proceeds benefit COD student scholarships.

Game day activities begin at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 1 with a Bubble Soccer Tournament in the college's Bjarne Ullsvik Stadium. A pregame tailgate party with games, food and entertainment is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to welcome fans before the coin toss.

Other homecoming activities will be held throughout the week from Monday, Sept. 26, through Friday, Sept. 30, as students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members have the opportunity to participate in various events and contests to promote COD pride.

Unless otherwise posted, admission to all activities is free for students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members.
