Police: Wonder Lake man used nail gun in road rage fight
A Wonder Lake man shot another driver with a nail gun Tuesday during a road rage-induced fight in Woodstock that also included a thrown bottle, authorities said.
Bret T. Eder, 22, who is accused of wielding the nail gun, has been charged with aggravated battery and reckless conduct.
The violence stemmed from a traffic dispute about 3 p.m., according to a news release from Woodstock police. The other man, who was not identified, threw a bottle out of his car window, striking Eder's car. Eder then pulled out the battery-powered nail gun and shot the other man in the left forearm, police said. After being shot, the other man got out of his vehicle and started fighting with Eder near the intersection of Route 47 and Country Club Road, the release said.
The man shot with the nail gun was treated at the scene by Woodstock firefighters and declined to be taken to the hospital.
Eder was taken to the McHenry County Jail.
