Kicker Josh Brown back with Giants after serving suspension
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - Placekicker Josh Brown is back with the New York Giants.
The Giants added Brown to their roster on Monday, and coach Ben McAdoo said the 37-year-old veteran would be the team's kicker Sunday in the home opener against New Orleans.
Brown was suspended by the NFL for the opening game for violating the league's personal conduct policy. The decision related to his arrest in May 2015 on a domestic violence allegation by his former wife. No charges were filed by the prosecutor.
The Giants signed veteran Randy Bullock to kick in the opener. He did not attempt a field goal and made 2 of 3 extra points.
McAdoo would not say whether the Giants would keep two kickers, but they are now down a linebacker.
Brown, who scored a career-high 134 points last season, took the roster spot that opened when New York placed linebacker J.T. Thomas on injured reserve. He tore ligaments in his left knee covering a kickoff on the final play of the first half.
Thomas missed most of training camp with a hamstring injury. He was activated Aug. 23 and played in the final two preseason games.
Thomas played in 12 games last season with a career-high 11 starts at weak side linebacker. He finished with 43 tackles and three special teams tackles.
