Boys soccer: Rojas, Grayslake N. roll to victory

Ronaldo Rojas notched a hat trick to lead Grayslake North's boys soccer team to a 6-0 shutout of visiting Richmond-Burton in nonconference action on Saturday.

Josian Martinez, Josh Moran and Carlos Alfaro also scored for the Knights (4-4), while Jason Rhodes had 3 assists. Brandon LeBaron, Matthew Heery and also assisted on goals.

Bryce Boyd picked up the shutout in net.

"Today we showed some real purpose in our play and managed to put R-B under pressure as we attacked very well throughout the entire game," Knights coach Adam DeCaluwe said. "We have started to play really well as a unit on both sides of the ball lately, and today was another good performance in that sense."

Round Lake 5, Zion-Benton 1: Kevin Estrada's goal and assist staked the host Panthers to a 2-0 halftime lead in the nonconference game.

Erik Alvarez, Jorge Martinez, Antonio Fonseca and Ricardo Orozco also scored for Round Lake. Orozco and Christofer Gomez contributed assists as well. Panthers keeper Abel Campa made 2 saves.

Zion-Benton scored its only goal on a penalty kick.

Libertyville 3, Wauconda 0: The visiting Wildcats captured the nonconference match.

Carmel 4, Minooka 1: The Corsairs won their opening game in the PepsiCo tournament.
