Winfield's Good Old Days defies easy labels

Winfield festival continues Sunday

Trying to put a label on Winfield's Good Old Days celebration is a little like eating soup with a fork - you're almost certain to miss something.

The four-day party, which opened Thursday and continues through Sunday evening in the village's downtown, defies easy description.

Sure, there's the usual assortment of bands and food and vendor tents.

But there's also a meatball eating contest and an egg toss and a ladies shoe kicking contest that keeps visitors and participants alike on their toes.

Sunday will be no different, with a 3 p.m. concert by Vital Signs, a plastic duck race at 10 a.m., a parade at 1 p.m. and a kids water fights at 2 p.m. And, yeah, if you just can't miss the Bears game, you can watch it in the Lions Entertainment Tent.

The party starts at 8 a.m. with a pancake breakfast and wraps up around 6 p.m. For details, visit winfieldgoodolddays.com.
