ECC to host open house for former ITT Tech students

Elgin Community College will conduct an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday to help ITT Technical Institute students following the nationwide closing of ITT Tech campuses.

ITT is closing its 137 campuses nationwide, including those in Arlington Heights, Oak Brook and Orland Park affecting 35,000 students.

"ECC is reaching out to ITT students to give them the opportunity to complete their educational goals despite the recent barriers they have encountered," said Gregory Robinson, ECC dean of Student Services and Development. "ECC is a cost-effective option for students to prepare for immediate transition into the workplace and/or to the four-year institution."

The ECC event will be held in the Building B Community and Heritage rooms (B180 and B181) on ECC's main campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

Students can speak with representatives from admissions and recruitment, academic advising, and financial aid to learn more about transitioning to ECC. Representatives from Career Technical Education also will be available to discuss their academic programs.

Students are advised to bring their ITT Tech transcript grade reports, as a transcript specialist can provide transcript evaluation information.
