Boys soccer: Elgin, St. Edward, Harvest Christian all winners

The Elgin boys soccer team improved to 6-0 overall with a 4-1 nonconference win over Dundee-Crown Thursday.

Omar Gonzalez, Tirso Reynoso, Danny Zavala and Alejandro Serna each scored goals while Manny Ramirez, Roberto Martinez and Julian Garfias all added assists. Julian Ajroja tallied 1 goal while Jeremy Jareckyj had 1 assist for the Chargers (4-4).

St. Edward 7, Christian Liberty 0: The Green Wave improved to 4-1 overall in nonconference action behind Josh Johansen's goal trifecta and AJ Franklin's 2 goals and 1 assist. Will Gaston (1 assist) and Zach Olenek each scored once while freshman Chase Brieger delivered a hat trick of assists. Evan Sajtar earned a shutout in goal with 3 saves.

Harvest Christian 4, Keith Country Day 3 (PK): The Lions (3-1, 3-0) stayed undefeated in the Northeastern Athletic action with a 4-3 shootout win against Keith Country Day, which placed third last year downstate. Antonio Nevarez led the way with 2 goals and 1 assist. Rafael DeSouza also scored while keeper Matt Baron had a timely save on Keith's fourth kick in the PK.

Marmion 13, Bishop McNamara 0: The Cadets (2-6, 2-0) made easy work of the Fightin' Irish in Chicago Catholic League play behind Sean Miller's 5-goal performance. Nick Grant tallied a hat trick and 4 assists while James Serrano had a hat trick and 2 assists. TJ Laurich added 1 goal and 1 assist while Matt Lagman scored once. Roberto Quintana served up a hat trick of assists while Quinn Gratz and Johan Muscutt each had 1.

Westminster Christian 3, Christian Life 1: In this Northeastern Athletic win, Jacob Guge had 2 goals while Mason Runkel had 1 goal and 1 assist for the Warriors (3-5-1, 2-0). Goalie Ben Versluys made 5 saves.

Jacobs 1, Evanston 1: Noah Melick's first half goal was all the Golden Eagles (2-2-2) conjured up in this nonconference tie. Dan Buirge notched an assist and keeper Ethan Pickering made 8 saves.

CL South 1, Wauconda 1: Andrew Grabowski scored on a PK for the Gators (5-2-1), who finished in a single-goal tie. Keeper Brandon Gorka made 6 saves.

Hinsdale South 4, East Aurora 3: The Tomcats (2-5) rallied from a 2-1 halftime deficit for a 3-2 lead only to give up 2 late goals in a nonconference loss. Jesus Delacruz, Diego Esquivel and Adrian Hernandez each registered goals while Bryan Torres and Carlos Gonzalez had assists.
