Starting today, a transgender student at a middle school in Elgin Area School District U-46 will be able to use the locker room that corresponds with the student's gender identity, according to a school board member. St. Charles celebrates 90th anniversary of the Arcada Theatre
For decades, the Arcada Theatre has served as an entertainment hub for the St. Charles community. Hundreds of fans attended a parade and free show yesterday to celebrate the theater's 90th anniversary. "We're really celebrating the fact that it's been continuously running for 90 years," said owner Ron Onesti. Elgin police searching for armed robber
Authorities are searching for a man who robbed an Elgin business on the 300 block of South McLean Boulevard over the weekend. Witnesses, a store manager and a cashier told authorities the robber showed a silver handgun before stealing an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register and fleeing, according to Elgin police. Man killed outside child's birthday party in Aurora
A man was shot and killed late Sunday after attending a child's birthday party in Aurora, police said. Andres Ochoa, 31, of Aurora was found unconscious and unresponsive after having been struck by gunfire about 10:30 p.m. on the 600 block of High Street. Full story.
