Kizer starts and throws a TD on Notre Dame's 1st possession

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - DeShone Kizer started at quarterback for No. 10 Notre Dame against Texas on Sunday and threw a touchdown pass on the first drive of the game.

Fighting Irish coach Brian Kelly had made it clear that both Kizer and Malik Zaire would play in the season opener against the Longhorns.

Kizer started most of last season after Zaire was injured the second week of the season.

Zaire led a 76-yard drive on the opening series, capping it with a 13-yard touchdown pass to Equanimeous St. Brown.
