Task force offers move-in baskets for Philhaven

Construction on Wheeling's Philhaven - a supportive housing development that will give housing opportunities to people with disabilities - is on schedule, with the development projected to open to occupants in December, said Hugh Brady, co-president of the North/Northwest Suburban Task Force on Supportive Housing for Individuals with Mental Illness.

While each of the development's 50 units will come furnished, items like sheets, towels and kitchen dishes will not be provided.

In an effort to help future Philhaven residents, the North/Northwest Suburban Task Force on Supportive Housing for Individuals with Mental Illness is raising money to supply each unit with a move-in basket complete with items they might need.

The task force has already raised 80 percent of the $27,000 needed to purchase items for the gift baskets, Brady said.
