Altidore's late strike give Toronto win at Orlando

ORLANDO, Florida (AP) - Toronto's Jozy Altidore scored in the 86th minute to give the Canadian club a 2-1 win at Orlando City on Wednesday, moving to the top of Major League Soccer's Eastern Conference.

The victory moved Toronto above New York City while dealing a blow to Orlando's fading playoff hopes, sitting a point off the last qualifying place.

That sixth spot in the East is occupied by D.C. United, which drew at fifth-placed Montreal.

Elsewhere, Giovani dos Santos scored the equalizing goal as Los Angeles drew at Chicago.

Toronto took the lead at Orlando in the seventh minute when Tosaint Ricketts ran onto a throw-in at pace down the right flank, cut in and beat the goalkeeper at the near post.

Cyle Larin equalized in the 56th minute when he headed in off a post. It was his 30th goal in just 50 MLS games.

Altidore scored the late winner when he slipped behind the defense and receive a pass from Sebastian Giovinco and passed the keeper before rolling the ball into the empty net.

Toronto has won six of its past seven games to go top of the East while Orlando is winless in four.

Montreal's Hassoun Camara nodded in a goal in the 77th minute to salvage a point for the hosts against D.C. United.

Marco Donadel lofted a pass to the far post that Camara headed in for an important goal, maintaining the five-point gap between the East playoff rivals.

Lamar Neagle converted a 35th-minute penalty for D.C., which is unbeaten in five games.

Los Angeles missed a chance to move up the West rankings when it drew 2-2 at lowly Chicago.

Gyasi Zardes put the Galaxy ahead in the 31st when he blasted a failed clearance into the net from near the penalty spot.

Chicago scored twice in the next eight minutes to take a 2-1 lead. Arturo Alvarez put away a rebound in the 34th, and David Accam converted a penalty in the 39th.

Dos Santos equalized in the 69th minute, chipping in a high shot with the outside of is left foot.

Philadelphia rookies Keegan Rosenberry and Fabian Herbers scored to give the Union a 2-1 win at Columbus.

San Jose was held to a goalless draw at home by New England, which has not scored in three straight games.

Seattle's Nicolas Lodeiro scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time to give the Sounders a 1-1 draw at Houston.
