Grayslake rail crossing closure planned for Sept. 9

Lake County Division of Transportation plan to close a Grayslake railroad crossing at 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9. Officials said Washington Street at the crossing west of Lake Street will be temporarily shut down to raise the railroad track and other work. It's part of the Washington Street Underpass construction project. The crossing is scheduled to reopen to traffic at 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12. The detour route is Washington Street, to Route 83, to Rollins Road, to Hainesville Road. Local traffic will have access to the Metra station entrance west of the railroad tracks.
