Girls volleyball: Prospect tops Maine South in three sets
Prospect's girls volleyball team began its season with a 21-25, 25-14, 25-19 nonconference triumph over Maine South on Tuesday night at the Jean Walker Field House in Mt. Prospect.
Senior Maggie Porwit led the Knights with 8 kills followed by Kaeli Myers (7), Meghan Meredith (5), Mandy Withey (3) and Mary Mazurek (3).
Senior setter Paige Gerber handed out 18 assists while Withey had a team-high 6 blocks. Myers, Porwit and Meredith each had 2 blocks. Val Thomas paced the back row with 14 digs.
Stevenson d. Barrington: Stevenson won the nonconference match 25-13, 25-19 over the host Fillies, who were led by Andi Capel (3 kills, 3 aces, 5 points).
Lake Forest d. Wheeling: The Scouts earned a 25-19, 25-5 nonconference triumph over host Wheeling, which received 4 kills, 9 digs and 5-for-5 serving with 1 ace from 5-foot-11 senior middle hitter Timber Terrell.
