Clark, Horst score; Dynamo win for 1st time since July 2

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Ricardo Clark and David Horst scored and the Houston Dynamo won for the first time since July 2, beating the San Jose Earthquakes 2-1 on Friday night.

Houston (5-10-9) snapped a six-game winless stretch and scored at least two goals for the first time since June 26. San Jose (7-7-10) had its five-game undefeated streak stopped.

Clark opened the scoring in the sixth minute. After a failed clearance on a corner kick, Cristian Maidana sent in a cross and Clark touched in the loose ball. Horst scored in the 50th after heading in Maidana's free kick.

San Jose answered in the 54th. Houston goalkeeper Joe Willis punched a ball out of the 6-yard box but Alberto Quintero was first to it at the edge of the penalty area and centered it to Víctor Bernardez for a redirection.
