Lake County Honor Flight to welcome veterans home in N. Chicago

Lake County Honor Flight will host a welcome home ceremony at 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, at the North Chicago Veterans Memorial the for the World War II, and Korean War Veterans coming home from their honor flight trip to Washington D.C. The veterans will be welcomed with by family, friends and loved ones. Residents are encouraged to attend, make posters, bring American flags and dress in red, white and blue. The ceremony will be held outdoors, rain or shine. The memorial is on the 1800 block of Sheridan Road in North Chicago, about 1.5 miles north of the Great Lakes Naval Station. Parking is available on site and along Sheridan Road. Speakers include Mayor Leon Rockingham and several other county, state and federal political leaders.
