Images: #TBT Gallery looks at scouting in the '60s

From the Pinewood Derby to good deeds, Boy Scouts of the 1960s led by example.

In this week's #TBT Gallery from the Daily Herald archives, you will find images that reflect one of the largest youth organizations in the United States.

From learning first aid to traveling to the Grand Canyon, scouting in the Chicago suburbs was preparing the youth for life.

If you closed your eyes and imagined, many of these pictures could be taken today in your hometown.

Chicago publisher W.D. Boyce founded the Boy Scouts of America in 1910.

Their purpose was to teach boys patriotism, courage, self-reliance and kindred values.
