Lake County sheriff arrests 4 men in prostitution sting
The Lake County Sheriff's Gang Task Force arrested four men on charges of solicitation of a sexual act as part of a national two-day sting to crack down on the demand for purchased sex.
The task force went undercover July 12 and Aug. 4 in a web-based operation using a classified advertising website that is regularly used for prostitution.
When the “johns,” or customers of prostitution, showed up to an area hotel and offered undercover detectives money for sexual acts, they were arrested and taken to the Lake County jail.
The national effort to suppress the demand for purchased sex has led to the arrests of more than 5,800 johns and sex traffickers.
The four men arrested in Lake County include Jose M. Vargas, 39, of Waukegan; Henry D. Taylor, 40, of Zion;
Salvador Hernandez, 33, of North Chicago; and Antioco Tlatenchi, 48, of Waukegan, according to the sheriff's office.
