Four injured in Evanston shooting

Four people were shot in Evanston late Tuesday night, authorities said.

The victims were standing near Foster Street and Jackson Avenue at about 10 p.m. Tuesday when they were shot at by a person hiding in a field just north of the location, authorities said.

A 24-year-old man from Evanston was shot in the head; a 17-year-old girl from Evanston was shot in the arm and the leg; a 19-year-old woman from Evanston was shot in the ankle; and a 32-year-old Skokie man was shot in the hand, according to police.

All four victims are being treated at Evanston Hospital for nonlife threatening injuries, authorities said.

There was no suspect description immediately available Wednesday, police said, and detectives are continuing their investigation.
